Are you looking for a step into a General Management role within a small company who have a big appetite for growth and operate within key growth markets such as industry 4.0?  Do you have experience managing a team of salespeople for strategic level sales within a technical market?
If the answer to both questions is yes, then this opportunity could be just what you are looking for. 
My client is a Manchester based computer hardware supplier who have been established for over 27 years. They have been bought by a European group in recent years and they are looking to grow the business further.  The company offer a range of specialist industrial, medical and digital signage products from leading technology companies worldwide.   They provide specialist technology solutions based on their customers individual needs and couple this with first rate technical support.  Their exposure to a wide range of industries and projects has equipped them with an in-depth knowledge of available applications.
The Role
The GM will be required to develop the team and drive the growth of the business.  This is a strategic role, so will require somebody who is confident when setting budgets and strategy to take the business forward.  The GM will report into the wider group and be responsible for the P&L and hitting agreed targets to grow this.  To do this he/she will be heavily involved in supporting existing and new strategic accounts across the UK in order to meet sales targets in line with the company budget and goals.
Other areas of the role include general management and driving positive changes in the business.  They are looking to implement an ERP system over the next 12 months to bring the company in line with the group.  This will also be something the GM will be heavily involved in.

The Person
The company is a sales focused business and operates in a very competitive market, so successful candidate for this role must have strong experience as a senior sales manager within a relevant technical area.  There is a huge opportunity for growth within the business, but it will take someone who can put a strategy/vision in place and drive the team towards it. 
The role will very much suit someone who has experience working within or a desire to work in and grow a small business (<20).   
  • Some technical knowledge is desirable, but a general knowledge similar types of system is enough i.e. PC knowledge – how they work, components etc
  • The ability to negotiate in a competitive market and within strategic and long-term contracts is key
  • P&L management
  • Ability to assess the market and set strategy for growth
  • Hands on strategic selling
  • Excellent people management
  • The ability to communicate well over video call and face to face
  • Experience working Autonomously and reporting results into C level stakeholders.
