Mechanical Engineer (Design and Development)

  • £30-35k (dependent on the role)

  • Well known engineering company

The company are a worldwide business with expertise in a number of different industries. They design and manufacture rotating equipment and ancillaries. They are looking for positive, talented and ambitious engineers to join the team.

There are opportunities for individuals from similar fields from an out and out technical background (senior engineer) through to those who are more CAD focused.

The company have an excellent reputation for training and development. They will support ambitious engineer's progression (whether that be on a technical or personal level). If you are looking to become chartered (and are not already) the company will support you through this.

Duties & Responsibilities (as an overview)

  • Support on service related problems

  • Technical support to Manufacturing Centres of Excellence, Sales organisations and International Design Centres

  • Design and develop standard and high-performance equipment

  • Development of new analysis tools to better predict the performance and characteristics of the product range

  • Identification and exploitation of new technologies within the field of power transmission

  • Maintain and develop the product drawing creation software

  • Train and support new users in the product selection tools

Required Skills and Experience

  • HND / Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in the field of power transmission, turbo compressors or relevant discipline would be an advantage

  • Expertise in future development of new power transmission products (finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, rotor dynamic evaluation and new materials [including composites) would be an advantage

  • Strong communication skills - ability to communicate at all levels through the business is essential

  • Strong experience of design & development within Engineering

  • Experience of CAD

  • Technical support to manufacturing, sales and design centres
