  • We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and proactive Sales Manager to oversee the company's commercial activity across the US.

The Business

Headquartered in Germany and established over 15 years ago this organisation are an industry leader in the design and build of automated capital equipment and systems for the Life Science sector. They have experienced impressive growth over the last 5 years and are now looking to strengthen their commercial presence by recruiting an experienced Sales Manager. With realistic plans to more than double their turnover in the next year, this person will be instrumental in the organisations continued success in the USA.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Sales Director, the Sales Manager will be remotely based on the East Coast and will coordinate and grow the business's sales-related activities across the USA. As the Sales Manager, this person will work with the European sales team to develop and execute a strategic territory plan. This will include implementing the methodology needed to achieve sales growth including lead generation, business development, customer support, and relationship-building with existing accounts and new customers across the territory.
This Individual can expect to spend up to 50% of their time in the field visiting and supporting new and existing customers predominantly across the East and West coasts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform demonstrations, installations, and training to drive new and repeat sales as defined in the Strategic Territory Plan, and on an as-needed basis supporting Service team with customer enquiries
  • Coordinate sales and commercial activities across the US to include: lead generation and follow-up, cold calling, organizing and presenting technical seminars, demos, application feasibility tests, and customer support and training.
  • Develop detailed business plans, organize, accurately forecast territory results, provide market intelligence, implement value selling, and leverage applications to identify companies and departments that could benefit from the company products.
  • Maintain and continue to develop a superior knowledge of company products, their applications, and the competitors’ offerings.
  • Build trust with customers and colleagues and maintain the highest level of integrity while building long-term relationships with customers and establishing yourself as a trusted, inspiring leader.
  • Monitor competitive activity and industry trends, foster competitive solutions to meet sales goals.
  • Timely submit forecasts, weekly reports, monthly highlights, marketing intelligence, and other related reports for the defined territory.
  • Maintain accurate and current records of proposals, opportunities, accounts, contacts, leads and actions through ERP within the defined territory. Maintain daily and weekly updates.
  • Keep the sales team abreast of any new developments in the marketplace (competitive, product, customer, wins/losses, etc.).
  • Present the company’s products in a positive manner and maintain/build our reputation in the marketplace.
The Person
  • Minimum 2 years of equipment sales experience with a proven track record of exceeding quota in each of those years
  • Have already established relationships in the relevant markets (industry, academics, government) from previous sales roles
  • Strong experience in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision-makers, prospecting skills and the ability to develop new business
  • Experience selling services and after-sales solutions involving machinery, software and service plans
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, advanced computer skills.
  • Attend trade shows as a company representative when needed
  • Substantiated capability to negotiate and close business.
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and good, ethical, business judgment.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive international travel activities
